Violin

Rachel began studying the violin with Lawrie Hill at the age of 6. She played both the flute and violin, for which she sat first stand, in the Vancouver Academy of Music Junior Symphony (VAMJS) for two years, the second of which she won first prize in the VAMJS Concerto Competition, which granted her the opportunity to perform the first movement of Vivaldi’s Concerto in A minor with the VAMJS. The following year, she was a first violin in the Vancouver Academy of Music Symphony Orchestra (VAMSO), which was planning on touring China the concert season COVID-19 began. Since Grade 8, she has played flute and been a first violin in the Crofton House School String Orchestra and, as of Grade 11, concertmaster. She currently studies with John Marcus at the Vancouver Academy of Music.
